GRAND MUSICAL SHOW - Click here

Music is "the Energy" and more so is the Indian Classical Music. It is one of the most ancient music forms in the world. Over several centuries, this has given rise to two major streams of music – Carnatic - in the southern parts of the sub-continent - and Hindustani in the northern regions of India. Britain boasts a large immigrant population from the Indian sub-continent who, despite settling down several thousand miles away from their homeland (Sri Lanka or India), have a close attachment to their cultural roots, specifically music and dance.

In the year 1988, Natha Vidhyalaya was established and is an organization which focuses on this issue and tries to build a strong base for the cultural interest in the minds of people with large interest and fecilitate them in learning same. Instrumental music classes are the focus of the Vidyalaya with particular emphasis on the violin. In addition, classes on Mridangam, Vocal music and the Tamil language have also been conducted over the last two decades.

Since 1992, Natha Vidyalaya School of Fine Arts has staged 25 arangetrams (graduation ceremony) of high quality under the tutelage of Smt. Kalaivani Indrakumar in Violin and 28 Arangetrams under the tutelage of Nathamani Shri Muthu Sivarajah in mridangam. In the forthcoming years, Natha Vidhyalaya is planning to have Shri. N. Rajaraman, popular Ghatam artist from Chennai of International repute, to have his tutelage for the students.

In celebration of the Tenth anniversary in July 2006, Natha Vidyalaya conducted special events featuring a dance programmer by Kum. Shobana and “Sapthakshara”, a musical ensemble, by Shri.
